Meet Rachel, our next door neighbor and Member of the Month
Rachel Kosky is a practicing psychotherapist and the lead clinician in Energetic and Spiritual Practices at Calm & Centered Counseling. This small private practice has just recently moved to the Litchfield area, and is located right next door to Center Studio.
"I also own Unalome Healing Center, which up to this point has been primarily online Reiki and Spiritual Life Coaching services, however, as of March 1st, we are officially breaking ground on our in-person location. So stay tuned!
Most importantly I am a single mom of two girls, two and four years old. They are my primary motivation for everything! We enjoy traveling, practicing yoga and expanding our spiritual natures together."
How did you hear about Charym? And how long have you been practicing yoga?
"I have been doing yoga for about 20 years. When I was in my mid 20s I moved away from yoga and found CrossFit. CrossFit was my primary focus, but I often integrated various styles of yoga such as gentle and Bikram to complement my CrossFit practice. However, once I had my two daughters, I recognized my body's deep need to reconnect with my yoga roots. I am profoundly connected to Litchfield and stumbled upon Charym when searching for nearby yoga studios. The space just called to my soul."
What is your favorite class or favorite memory from Charym?
"My absolute favorite class at Charym is Emile’s Dynamic Vinyasa on Tuesday mornings. Not only is this class dynamic but it's challenging in all the right ways. What I love most about this class is Emile’s approach. I feel every class is authentically and energetically aligned with exactly what I need for that day. Even if I'm one of twenty members in the class, I feel as though his intuitive approach makes me feel like it was tailored specifically to me."
What motivates you and encourages you to come to practice?
"The most significant motivation for coming to practice is the role I play in the lives of others at home and at work. It’s like a quote by Parker Palmer, 'Self-care is never a selfish act - it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others. Anytime we can listen to true self and give the care it requires, we do it not only for ourselves, but for the many others whose lives we touch.'"
