How did you hear about Charym? And how long have you been practicing yoga?

I have been practicing yoga on and off for a couple of years now. However, within the past year I have become really dedicated. I have found a lot of peace in my life from working out, but I found that weight lifting wasn’t giving me the same mental benefits as it used to. I heard about Charym from my mom who heard great things about the classes. I decided to give them a try while I was home on winter break from graduate school. I immediately fell in love with the warm, accepting, and peaceful environment of the studio. I enjoy the friendships I have made with the instructors as well as the other members!

What are your favorite classes at Charym?

My three favorite classes at Charym are Embodied Vinyasa with Nicole, Slow Flow with Sound Healing with Crystal, and Yoga Flow with Joe. Nicole and Crystal provide the most passionate, trauma-informed, challenging yet nourishing, and fulfilling yoga practices that I have experienced. I love starting off my Monday with a strength-based and stretching class with Joe. I enjoy the flow of Nicole’s class as well as the sound healing from Crystal’s. I enjoy how the classes offer modifications or challenges. When I first joined as a member I used some of the modifications, and I now find that I enjoy the challenges offered. It’s nice how Charym offers a wide variety of classes for all levels.

What benefits do you see from your yoga practice and how does it affect your day to day life?

I see so many benefits from practicing yoga 4-5x per week. I have seen my sleep improve as well as my overall mental health. I have found myself being more present and in the moment. I feel as though with time I have become a lot more comfortable with and seen benefit from practicing meditation and sound-bath work. I have enjoyed Nicole’s Somatic Experiencing classes as well. I think that daily yoga keeps me grounded throughout the day. It’s been beneficial for me to unwind at the end of the busy day and take more time for myself and prioritize my self care. I have also found that I have built my mental and physical strength up from doing yoga. I find that I am more flexible and I am stronger since being a regular at the studio.

Molly grew up here in Litchfield, CT and recently graduated from Westfield State University with her Masters in Social Work this past May. She completed a one-year masters program with a focus on clinical mental health and substance use. In May of 2023 she graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelors in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. She currently works in Torrington, CT as a psychotherapist. Besides going to yoga classes at Charym, Molly enjoys hanging out with friends and family, visiting new coffee shops, and spending time outdoors.
