Meet John Dezzutti, yoga aficionado, and gliding enthusiast
Meet John Dezzutti! He joined our Charym team this past February, and graciously filled in for Victoria during her leave of absence. You will continue to see him around the studio as he will fill in for our teachers from time to time.
He got his start in yoga through his longtime friend and running buddy, Eilleen Manela. She invited him to one of her classes here at Charym, and his interest in yoga was piqued!
Four years ago, after attending a retreat with the Road Scholar program, John enrolled in the YTT program at the Kripalu School. There he was drawn to Adaptive Yoga, the focus of modifying yoga instruction for students based on their limitations using props and other modifications. Shortly thereafter he began teaching Flex, Stretch and Balance classes, providing a safe place for people of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of yoga (even when it may not look like traditional yoga).
Last December he attended Victoria’s Ballet Yoga Flow class as a means to broaden his knowledge for his adaptive yoga style. John says, “Clearly strength, flexibility, and balance are descriptors of dancers, and these are exactly the things I want for my class participants. I also make liberal use of the barre in class. It was an honor for me when she asked if I would teach her class during the time she was away.”
John’s other hobbies include running and flying gliders. On May 15, John will reach a major milestone: a daily running streak of 2,000 days! John began flying gliders at 18 years-old and has logged over 3,000 hours in the sky! John enjoys introducing others to the joys of soaring, and invites his students to ask him more about it. He might just give you a lesson!
